Search for boy missing in the sea between Cabo de Palos and La Manga
The child went into the choppy seas for a swim and never came back
Murcia’s emergency rescue services are searching for a minor who disappeared in the sea off the Playa de las Amoladeras beach, between Cabo de Palos and La Manga, on Monday afternoon.
The youth, aged 17, was in the area with some friends and went into the water to swim. When he did not return, his friends alerted the emergency services, who searched the area with jet skis, but to no avail.
A helicopter from the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies was mobilised to the beach and carried out several searches over the sea, but did not find him.
Amoladeras beach is located close to the Entremares Hotel and usually has strong currents. Strong winds have been blowing in the area since Sunday, and a red flag stopping people from going in the water was raised in the entire area on Monday.
The search is continuing with a vessel from the Maritime Safety and Rescue Service and another helicopter to relieve the previous one.
