Andalusians to deduct up to 100 euros on gym memberships and vet bills from 2026
Tax relief for fitness lovers and pet owners aims to boost health and wellbeing

Residents will be able to claim 15% back on gym fees, sports centre memberships, club subscriptions, and other sports-related expenses, up to a maximum of €100 per person each year. The deduction applies regardless of income and is expected to help around 785,000 Andalusians save a collective €36 million annually. Importantly, this tax break will be retroactive, covering gym fees paid during 2025 as well.
Minister Carolina España highlights the health benefits: "Physical exercise is fundamental for improving physical and mental health," she said, pointing to positive impacts in preventing illnesses like heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and mental health conditions.
In addition, pet owners will see a 30% deduction on veterinary expenses up to €100 per animal in their first year of ownership. Those adopting animals from shelters can claim this deduction for three years, encouraging responsible pet ownership. Special categories such as guide dogs or assistance animals will qualify for lifetime deductions regardless of when they were acquired. Around 182,000 Andalusians are expected to benefit from this measure, representing a €12 million annual impact.
Taken together, these two measures contribute to a €48 million package of tax relief designed to ease the cost of everyday life while supporting fitness and animal welfare. Since 2019, successive tax cuts have helped establish Andalusia as one of Spain’s lowest-taxed regions, with the government keen to continue this path.
