Region of Murcia to welcome 16 new hotels in the next three years
This substantial investment in tourism will add more than 700 hotel beds across the Region

Tourism in the Region of Murcia is gearing up for a major boost. After a few years of slower growth, new investment is set to bring 16 additional hotels and more than 700 new beds to the market over the next three years.
The figures come from EY’s Hotel Property Telescope 2025, which tracks hotel projects scheduled until the end of 2028. While the new openings represent only a small share of the overall Spanish market, they’re a big step forward for the Region of Murcia, which has been sorely lacking in this department compared to neighbours Alicante and Andalucía.
Among the planned projects are three five-star hotels and four four-star establishments, a sign that luxury offerings are finally starting to take hold in Murcia. The list is rounded out by two three-star hotels, one two-star, two tourist apartment complexes and several other projects that have yet to be classified.
The developments are spread across nine municipalities. Cartagena will see the biggest share, with four new establishments. San Pedro del Pinatar, Murcia city, Cieza and Alhama also feature prominently, while Caravaca, Lorca, Molina de Segura and Las Torres de Cotillas complete the list.
Independent developers are driving most of these projects, accounting for 11 of the 16 hotels. Larger chains are behind only a handful.
One of the most eye-catching plans is in Alhama, where construction of a five-star hotel with 96 ground-floor rooms will begin later this year. It is expected to open in 2027 alongside other facilities at the same resort. The company behind the project also intends to build a four-star hotel with around 100 rooms in the same area at a later date.
San Pedro del Pinatar will also welcome a luxury hotel in the Los Imbernones district. Managed by Pinatar Arena, the property is designed to include 115 rooms.
Meanwhile, Murcia city will soon get its very first five-star hotel. The historic Arco de San Juan is being renovated at the moment and will reopen in 2026 with a new restaurant and rooftop terrace.
Four-star hotels are also on the way. In Murcia, Soho Boutique is preparing a 90-room hotel on Avenida Juan Carlos I, complete with a gym, meeting rooms and a rooftop pool.
Molina de Segura will soon have a 39-room hotel next to the Vega Plaza shopping centre, while Caravaca de la Cruz is planning a boutique-style property with up to 19 rooms inside the Casa de la Virgen.
In the three-star category, Lorca will get a 36-room hotel in Casa del León, while Cieza is preparing for an 80-room B&B Hotel inside the new Los Olivos shopping centre. This building will also feature shops, a pet store and a gym.
B&B is also behind a two-star hotel project next to the Thader shopping centre in Murcia, with 75 rooms planned.
Cartagena will see some of the most diverse developments. Tourist apartments with a combined 37 beds are coming to Calle Andino and opposite Casa Cervantes. A boutique hotel is planned for Casa Llagostera and another luxury project is being prepared in the iconic Cabo de Palos Lighthouse, although details on size and classification are still under wraps.
The list of new projects is rounded out by a hotel-museum with 16 rooms inside Casa de la Encomienda in Cieza and an establishment connected to the Murcia Film Studios in Las Torres de Cotillas.
