Wildlife alert in Cartagena neighbourhood as snakes and wild boars cause concern
Residents are troubled by snakes entering homes and wild boars crossing roads, prompting calls for urgent reports and safety measures

Neighbourhood residents expressed their fears, saying: "We go out for walks with our dogs, and we're afraid something might happen to them." One resident recounted how a snake even jumped at their dog from a crack at the entrance to their building. The concern is growing that the snakes may keep climbing in and out of homes.
Adding to their unease, wild boars have also been spotted crossing local roads at night, creating a dangerous situation for drivers. One local driver said: "I was driving home at nine o'clock and a pack of them crossed in front of me, even crossing the pedestrian lane. I had to slam on the brakes; thank goodness there weren't any cars behind me and I was able to brake hard enough. If I hadn't crashed into them, I only know how that would have ended."
This troubling pattern is not unique to Tentegorra but is spreading to areas like Molinos Marfagones and La Nueva Cartagena, with videos around the Cartagonova municipal stadium showing similar encounters going viral on social media.
Residents are encouraged to report pest sightings such as snakes, rats, mice, cockroaches, fleas, ticks, pigeons, seagulls, mosquitoes, and flies to municipal services. Reports can be made online, by phone, email, or in person. The Ayuntamiento will notify those who provide contact details about the progress of their complaint.
